Enrolment Guidelines
Prior to enrolling your child, kindly review this document thoroughly. Your enrolment serves as confirmation that you have understood and accepted the policies and procedures outlined below.
Teaching Schedule
Lessons are conducted during ACT public school teaching weeks, unless otherwise specified. The total number of lessons per term is non-negotiable and is determined by the teacher.
Tuition Fees
Tuition fees are to be paid in advance for each term and must be processed via direct deposit. Invoices will be sent to your designated email address. It is crucial to ensure that your current email address is on record. Please adhere to the specified invoice due dates, as late payments will incur a fee of $15, along with an additional $10 per week until the payment is settled.
Lessons prices as of 1 Jan 2024 charged per term
Weekly 30min lesson $53
Weekly 45min lesson $75
Weekly 60min lesson $104
For in-school sessions- There is a separate room hire fee due to the school charging tutors for the use of teaching facilities. This will be a flat fee of $20/term and will be applied to your invoice.
There is an annual administration fee of $20 to be paid in the first term a student commences and at the beginning of each subsequent year.
Tuition fees experience an annual adjustment to roughly match the rate of inflation. This adjustment takes effect at the commencement of each new financial year, aligning with term 3.
• Method books or sheet music purchase are not included in tuition fees and will be at an additional cost. These will be added to the term invoice inclusive of shipping costs.
• Optional events such as exams, eisteddfods, competitions, school holiday workshops, group sessions, and exams are not included in tuition fees.
Attendance Protocol
It is your responsibility, or that of your child, to maintain punctual and consistent attendance. No reimbursements will be granted for missed lessons under any circumstances. However, lessons cancelled by your instructor will either be rescheduled or credited.
For in-school sessions, we strive to gather younger students in grades K-2 from their classrooms. If a K-2 student is unexpectedly absent from their classroom and cannot be located by the tutor, the lesson will be forfeited. Parents must inform the tutor of any scheduling conflicts with school activities. Students in grades 3 and above are expected to independently reach their lessons on time. I strongly recommend the use of a digital watch alarm to assist with punctuality.
MISSED LESSONS - the allocated time is exclusively reserved for you/your child and catch up lessons are not provided in case of no show. Please note as of 2024, no catch up lessons will be permitted due to extended holidays. Providing 24 hour notice of an absence allows you to utilise your lesson time in one of the following ways:
ILLNESS- If you are unwell, experiencing cold/flu/gastro symptoms, or have received a positive COVID test result within the last 7 days, please refrain from attending your scheduled lesson. In such cases, online lessons via Skype/FaceTime are available. These virtual lessons will be conducted at the same designated time as your regular in-person session. Please note that online lessons may be up to 5 minutes shorter to accommodate setup time. To request a switch to an online lesson, kindly send a text message to Amber at least 2 hours in advance.
Special circumstances for in-school lessons- Lessons that fall during school events such as camps or carnivals will be swapped to another day where possible. I have a copy of the school calendar and will endeavour to plan accordingly, however, sometimes I do not get notified of some changes as I am not a school staff member, therefore, please note that it is your responsibility to communicate any other changes that may arise.
Parental Attendance – I always welcome and encourage parents to participate in observing their child's music lessons. However, attending the lesson is not obligatory unless your child is 4 years of age or younger.
Practice and set-up requirement
All students are asked to spend time playing their instrument for at least 4 days a week. The amount of time spent on practice each day will be agreed upon with your teacher and will change depending on age and ability level. Parents must supervise children as much as possible. Consistent failure to practice is grounds for termination of lessons.
Students are expected to have their own instrument.
Notice to discontinue lessons
Written notice 30 days notice prior to the commencement of a new term is required if you wish to cease lessons. There will be no refunds for lessons already paid for. You will be required to make a payment equaling 4 lessons if 30-day’s notice is not given. Students have the option to attend these 4 lessons.
If you plan to travel and need to take break from lessons for a significant period of time but would like to retain your place in my studio, you can elect to pay a holding fee equivalent to 50% of that term’s fees (based on the number of lessons that would ordinarily be taught during that term). Ceasing lessons without paying the 50% retaining fee will result in the loss of your place.
Termination of enrolment
Your enrolment may be terminated for any of the following reasons: repeated failure to attend lessons; repeated failure to practice; repeated failure to bring materials; repeated failure to follow teacher’s instructions and requirements; disruptive or uncooperative behaviour; non-payment or consistent late payment of tuition/book fees; and, purposely paying less than the stated amount of an invoice without prior communication. If a student’s place is terminated for any of these reasons, you are not entitled to a refund of any tuition fees paid and must pay any unpaid tuition fees.
PHOTOS - Photos are occasionally taken of students at performances and during lessons to recognise the completion of special achievements. Unless you advise otherwise in writing via email, by enrolling your child you give me permission to take such photos. Photos may be used in studio newsletters, websites, and social media. Student names are never used alongside photos.
